Our Mission

With opinions scattered throughout many social media outlets, our mission is to focus the demand for change to one central location. We want to organize and direct the voice of thousands of students, athletes, alumni and fans to people in a position to effect positive change.

How can I help bring about change?

It's very simple. You choose a petition that you feel strongly about, fill out the petition and leave a message. The goal is to get nationwide coverage to force the NCAA to take action.

What are we trying to accomplish?

Our goal is to shine a light on issues that affect student athletes. We want to focus the frustration present on social media into one central location and display data points of interest.

We Need Your Signature!

Please don't leave before signing petitions! Our strength comes from joining together.

These are the first two petitions we're launching with.
We hope to expand in the future while creating an avenue for postive change for all student athletes.
If you have a suggestion for a petition, please email us at info@studentunion.com

College football's playoff system still needs work

This is so bad for college football. Fans are really gonna see thru the farce we call "playoffs" and realize it's a rigged system designed to benefit the elites. — Danny Kanell on Twitter. Now that another college football season is completed and another champion has been crowned, ask yourself this question: Is college football's method of choosing a national champion any better than it was, say, 30 years ago? No. But there's a national playoff, you're saying; isn't that progress?...

UCF's national title claim inspires Tulane -- 20 years later

The UCF Knights had themselves a special 2017-18 season. It was so good, in fact, that the team considers itself to be national champions. This is according to athletic director Danny White, who feels that UCF's 13-0 season, including a win over No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl, is worthy of championship status — despite the fact that the team wasn't invited to the College Football Playoff....

Scott Frost blasts the SEC for not playing nine conference games

New Nebraska head coach Scott Frost just capped off a perfect 13-0 season at UCF, and his Knights defeated Auburn in the Peach Bowl. Frost made an appearance on ESPN's National Championship Game coverage, and he took the opportunity to criticize the SEC ahead of the all-SEC national title game. He said it's a big advantage for the SEC to only play eight conference games instead nine like the Big 10, Pac-12 and Big 12....

UCF National Champions: The Case for a Split College Football Title

Remember when the Big 12 launched its "One True Champion" campaign only to award a split conference title to Baylor and TCU in 2015? The College Football Playoff could be headed to a similar fate after promising to provide clarity to a murky BCS system. UCF is now poking the bear of the college football establishment by starting a national championship campaign. The school plans to treat this season as if they won the title with rings, parades, shirts and even changed their Twitter handle to "2...

A stunned Kirk Herbstreit walked off set after Ohio State didn't make the playoff

"The College Football Playoff had its first taste of a serious controversy on Sunday after the committee selected Alabama for the fourth and final playoff spot over Big Ten champion Ohio State. ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit didn't see that decision coming at all. When the CFP selection show revealed that the Buckeyes were out of the playoff, the former Ohio State quarterback briefly walked off the set. The crew couldn't hold back the laughter, and viewers were left with an empty chair."...

UCF claims the 2017 national championship

"On Monday, the College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be played. You know which team won't take part in that game? The only undefeated FBS team in the country, the University of Central Florida. But UCF doesn't care. After being snubbed by the selection committee, who never ranked the Knights higher than 12th despite the unblemished record, and completing the perfect season with a 34-27 win over Auburn in the Peach Bowl, Central Florida has taken it upon themselves to crown a...

VIRGINIA NEWSPAPER DECLARES UCF KNIGHTS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL

"In a move that appears to be a historic first of its kind—and "flies in the face" of the NCAA playoff system—a Virginia newspaper says it had no choice but to declare UCF national champions. "With an undefeated record and a win over a top-10 team in the Peach Bowl, we were left no other choice but to name them national champs," said Richard Ingram, President of Womack Publishing Company. "It's a testament to the work they put in, and the chance they were never given by the Bowl Selection Commi...

College Football Playoff's Hancock defends UCF's No. 12 ranking

"Although UCF finished the season as the only undefeated FBS team after its 34-27 win over No. 7 Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Monday, College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock stood behind the selection committee's reasoning for ranking the Knights No. 12. ""The selection committee respected UCF,"" Hancock told ESPN on Tuesday. ""After all, they're the group that put the Knights in the Peach Bowl. To qualify for the playoff, teams need to play tough schedules against g...

Scott Frost: Process that kept undefeated UCF out of CFP 'unfair'

"Outgoing UCF coach Scott Frost believes his team deserved a shot at the College Football Playoff and that it took a ""conscious effort"" by the committee to keep it lower in its rankings. After beating Auburn 34-27 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Monday to finish the season a perfect 13-0, Frost unloaded on a process he described as ""unfair."" UCF, which plays outside the Power 5 in the American Athletic Conference, was ranked 12th in the country entering Monday, despite going 12-0 with a c...

The sad and lonely death of Cinderella

"We've now had a few days to digest the anointed Final Four as determined by the College Football Playoff Committee. As it has every year since its unfortunate inception, the committee lived down to expectations. When thinking of committees, comedian Fred Allen's quote comes to mind: "A committee is a group of people who, individually, can do nothing, but who, as a group, can meet and decide that nothing can be done." But in this case, they finally finished off what was started with the incept...

The Committee's Lack of Respect for UCF Sets a Discouraging Playoff Precedent

A precedent was set in college football on Sunday: More than half of FBS teams are ineligible for the playoff. No one announced this, but the College Football Playoff committee might as well have when it ranked 12–0 UCF, the American Athletic Conference champion, No. 10. The only remaining undefeated team in the country, the Knights were coming off two straight wins over ranked teams, and as all of college football fervently debated which flawed traditional power—Ohio State or Alabama—might ge...

NCAA 1-130 Re-Rank: Clemson takes over top spot in reshuffled top five

After a long run atop the USA TODAY Sports college football re-rank, Alabama falls to No. 6 after a rivalry loss to Auburn. That opens a spot for a new No.1, with several teams in contention heading into this week's conference championship games. The nod goes to 11-1 Clemson, which capped November with an easy win against South Carolina. In total, the Tigers' résumé of wins – Auburn, Louisville, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State and the Gamecocks – give them the edge over No. 2 Oklahoma and...

After unbeaten season, UCF has every right to call itself a national champion

Save Alabama and Georgia the road trip, there's already a national champion. So says Central Florida, which has claimed the title for itself after capping the only unbeaten season in major college football with a Peach Bowl victory over Auburn. While the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs are preparing for Monday night's College Football Playoff title game, the Knights are celebrating like the champs they are....

Underneath Playoff glitz, a warning: College football could be headed into a ditch

By all rights, Alabama-Georgia for the national title should be the greatest showcase yet for this relatively new Playoff, with future NFL stars all over the field, fans paying $2,000 and up for the privilege of getting in the stadium and even President Trump coming to watch it. But underneath the glitz of Monday night's Atlanta extravaganza, it's hard to shake the feeling that college football is unwittingly being driven into a ditch....

Big 12 commissioner says UCF's Playoff exclusion was fair because they didn't face a power-conference schedule

UCF not making the Playoff was reasonable, just as UCF now claiming to have won the national title is reasonable. An unbeaten team with a win over the SEC West champ has some folks calling for the playoff to expand, others newly incensed about UCF missing the field, and plenty more just plain mad about a system seemingly designed to exclude half the country from paths to the national title, no matter what they do on the field....

Since 2000, UCF is 1-0 each against Alabama and Georgia, lol

On Monday night, Alabama and Georgia will play for the College Football Playoff National Championship from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. If Power 5 teams can claim these 24 dubious national titles, 2017 UCF can do whatever the hell it wants

UCF didn't make the Playoff and seems to have declared itself national champ anyway. Its AD threw out the term while on the field during the Peach Bowl win over Auburn, a game that gave the undefeated Knights transitive wins over both teams in the actual title game, and they are throwing themselves some sort of championship parade, with "national champions" plastered all over official school social media accounts. And why not? You tell me the name of the team that beat 2017 UCF....

Would an Eight-Team Playoff Have Solved This Season's Controversial Finish?

While top-level college football's switch from the Bowl Championship Series, in which computer rankings and inscrutable formulas played an outsize role, to a four-team playoff was widely embraced, it didn't take long for the calls for expanding the tournament field to dominate the conversation. The most popular alternative to the current four-team system was and is an eight-team playoff, which proponents argue would allow each champion of a Power 5 conference to get a chance at the national titl...
